Selections # 2 - items for AW09 mens

OKAY, continue with what I left off:

Cardigan:

Patterned fabrics:
ex.: Lanvin
Lanvin is well-known with using new fabrics on their collections, and this cardigan/fabrication is uniquely destructed yet refined at the same time. Quite positive the price tag is as high as lanvin-usual.

Sweater:

Eye-poping color:
ex.: Hermes
Love this yellow color, so sharp so chic. It is okay to wear sharp color in winter time since outerwear is mostly blk/ dark. Too SHARP for you? Don't worry, I am positive it comes in black/ navy color, as we all know the economy is tough. Brands know what to show, and what can sell. Also I love the shawl collar of this sweater, yet glad that most HKers don't get the shawl collar design and only very few of us wear it on the street.

Shirt:

Shirt with details:
ex.: Dries Van Noten
Yeah, enough of those pattern prints shirt from the summer. Shirt in this winter seems back to basic, yet with not so boring details on it. LOVE the tie feature on this shirt, and I certainly hope the price is within my budget.

Pants - boring, nth seems so cool/ outrageous as usual... guess your favorite jeans would go well with anything like it always does.

Selections # 1 - outerwears for AW09 mens

AW09 mens is subtle, and not so fashion forward in compare to AW08. You don't see that many expensive pieces, such as laser print suede trench coat by burberry prosum AW08. McQueen still making long mink coats for his collection, wonder if such pieces only sold to those rich Russians. Most collections are dominated by black or dark colors, its boring but salable, which is what fashion buyers want to see during their buying appointments in such economy crisis timing.

It's time to select my favorite pieces for AW09 mens since SS09 is on sale at this moment (alas, SS10 fashion shows are coming end of this month indeed).

Here are some updated must-have outerwears men cannot live without in winter:

Pea Coats:

Color Contrast
ex: Burberry Prosum
probably by far the best pea coat in AW09, the red is kind of btw poping n not really poping. well, it reminds me of Dries Van Noten AW08 - one with the yellow contrast though

Contrast Collars
ex: Alexander McQueen
Fabrication's difference can make quite a interesting combination. start seeing more designers playing a lot with contrast fabrics n colors in this fall.

Duffle Coats/ Jackets:

Jacket/ Shorter Version
ex: Band of Outsider
Sometime it's pain in the ass to wear duffel coat because it somehow make people look fatter n shorter, especially to Hong Konger (:P) shorter version pea coat is definitely a good news to everyone.

Less is more
ex.: Trovata
duffel's # are getting lesser and sizes are getting smaller

Parkers with fur trimmed hood:

Same Old, Same Old
ex.: Tim Hamilton
parka is just my personal all time favorite. i know that we don't get to wear this much in hong kong, but don't you have winter trip to go - somewhere bloody cold? or the other way - just go to somewhere cold because you have a lovely parka...

Hong Kong, which is comparatively warmer than other metropolitan cities, outerwear is always a category has been overlooked the most by us (both men and women)... You see a lot of people carrying expensive bags, pairs with CHEAP n UGLY clothes (n shoes, even worse). People, it's really time to rethink if others look at your bag or your jacket first during winter time... n i am pretty sure your bag needs a decent outer to go with.

First Entry - MMM

okay, I am not sure what should I start with my fashion blog...

just some pictures that i want to share with others, rumored to be Martin Margiela's pictures:

I used to think MMM is just a project name, which such person didn't exist back in 10 yrs ago. I have seen these pics few year back, but wonder why media don't really publish it on their works?

frankly speaking, he doesn't look too nerdy/ ugly. it's not like his appearance on runway would causes social suicide. wonder if he will do any interviews after he retired?! however keeping himself mysterious definitely is one of the all time classic topic in the industry, which can do good to the brand.
